CD117, also known as c-kit, is a transmembrane protein expressed on hematopoietic stem / progenitor cells, interstitial cell of Cajal, mammalian ductal epithelia, melanocytes, and basal cells of skin. The antibody labels CD117 (c-kit) in both normal and neoplastic cells.
Intended use
It is a useful tool for differentiating between gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and other intra-abdominal mesenchymal tumors when used with a panel of antibodies.
