MSH2 (MutS homolog 2 protein) is expressed in normal proliferating cells and, when heterodimerized with MSH6, is involved in repairing DNA mutations which may occur during DNA replication. The antibody labels MSH2 protein in both normal and neoplastic cells. Lost expression or low levels of MSH2 protein are associated with colorectal and other cancers
Intended use
MSH2 is a useful tool for classifying tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, including associated extra colonic cancers such as endometrial and prostate cancers, when used with a panel of antibodies.
