Gross cystic disease fluid protein-15 (GCDFP-15) is a secretory glycoprotein and is expressed in the acinic
cells of the breast, salivary glands, sweat glands, and vesicular seminalis. GCDFP-15 is often expressed in neoplastic cells of breast carcinomas (50-70%), mammary and extramammary Paget’s disease, sweat gland tumors (particularly apocrine), and salivary gland tumors. Expression of GCDFP-15 in other adenocarcinomas is very rare. In the identification of the unknown primary cancer, GCDFP is a highly specific and fairly sensitive marker for breast carcinoma
Intended use
The anti-GCDFP-15 antibody is useful for identification of breast carcinoma and metastatic tumor of breast origin when used with a panel of other antibodies.
