CD68

CD68 is an intracellular protein expressed on macrophages, histiocytes, myeloid precursor cells in the bone marrow, and somenon-hematopoietic tissues such as Kupffer cells in liver, and cells in renal  glomeruli and tubules

Intended use

The antibody labels CD68 in normal and neoplastic cells. It is a useful tool for classifying neoplasms of myeloid and macrophage/monocyte origin when used with a panel of antibodies

Assessment criteria
Moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining of macrophages in interfollicular zones of tonsil
An at least weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining of the microglial cells in the brain, while the background must be negative
No staining of germinal center B-cells in tonsil
