SOX10 is a neural crest transcription factor involved in the determination of cell fate, maturation, and
maintenance of Schwann cells and melanocytes. The antibody labels SOX10 in both normal and neoplastic cells. SOX10 is expressed in glial cells, Schwann cells, myoepithelial cells (salivary, bronchial, and mammary glands), melanocytic nevi, a variety of neural crestderived tumors, some mesenchymal tumors, and some epithelial tumors.
Intended use
It is useful for identifying melanomas when used with a panel of other antibodies
