Cytokeratin 7

Cytokeratin 7 (CK7) is a member of cytokeratin proteins expressed in most ductal, glandular, and transitional epithelia. The antibody labels CK7 protein in normal and neoplastic cells

Intended use

It is a useful tool for classifying adenocarcinomas of lung, breast, endometrium, thyroid gland, ovary, and chromophobe renal cell carcinomas when CK7 is positive and when it is used with a panel of antibodies. It is a useful tool for classifying colonic and prostate lineage tumors when CK7 is negative and when it is used with a panel of antibodies.

Assessment criteria
A moderate to strong, distinct cytoplasmic staining reaction of all epithelial cells in bile ducts of liver
An at least weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining reaction the majority of the epithelial cells of the intercalating ducts of the pancreas
No staining reaction in appendix
