Programmed-death ligand 1 (PD-1) is a transmembrane protein and the receptor for PD-L1 and PD-L2 ligands. PD-1 is a coinhibitory receptor of lymphocytes and other immune system cells. PD-1 is expressed by germinal center-associated helper T-cells and inhibits T-cell activity. PD-1 is expressed onT-cells, B-cells, and monocytes during activation. PD-1 positivity has been found in angioimmunoblastic lymphoma, but not other subtypes of T-cell and B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas and classic Hodgkin’s lymphomas. It has been shown that PD-1 may differentiate primary cutaneous CD4 small/mediumsized pleomorphic T-cell lymphoma and cutaneous pseudo-T-cell lymphomas which are PD-1 positive from other cutaneous T-cell lymphomas. It was reported that PD-1+ rosettes of T-cells around neoplastic cells are relatively specific for nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Intended use
Anti-PD-1 antibody maybe a useful aid for differentiation diagnosis of angioimmunoblastic lymphoma, primary cutaneous pleomorphic T-cell lymphoma, and nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma when used with a panel of other antibodies.
