Napsin A

Napsin A is a protease that is predominantly expressed in the lung and kidney. Napsin A is expressed in
alveolar type II pneumocytes in lung and proximal tubules in kidney.

Intended use

The anti-Napsin A antibody is useful for differentiating lung adenocarcinomas from lung squamous cell carcinoma and from mesothelioma, and as an aid in the diagnosis of adenocarcinomas of unknown origin when used in a panel with other antibodies.

At least moderate, granular cytoplasmic staining reaction of virtually all type II pneumocytes and alveolar macrophages in lung
At least moderate, granular cytoplasmic staining reaction of the majority of the epithelial cells of the proximal tubules in kidney
Negative staining reaction of normal columnar epithelial cells and macrophages in lamina propria in appendix
