Human herpesvirus type 8 (HHV-8), also known as Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, causes Kaposi’s sarcoma as well as primary effusion lymphoma and some types of multi-centric Castleman’s disease. Latent nuclear antigen protein is consistently expressed in HHV-8 infected cells.
Intended use
Anti- HHV-8 antibody may be useful in the identification of Kaposi’s sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma, and multicentric Castleman’s disease, when used with a panel of antibodies.
