Gastrin is a peptide hormone that stimulates production gastric acid by the parietal cells of the stomach, and also aids in gastric motility. Gastrin is produced by G-cells in the pyloric antrum of stomach, and evidence suggests an important role for gastrin and its target cell, the enterochromaffin-like cell, in gastric carcinogenesis.
