CD38 protein is a transmembrane glycoprotein that has an important role in the growth and differentiation of lymphoid and myeloid cells. CD38 protein is expressed in a wide range of cells, including hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, with the highest expression levels typically seen in plasma cells. CD38 protein is found on immature cells of the B-cell and T-cell lineages, but is absent from most mature, resting peripheral lymphocytes. CD38 protein is also present on thymocytes, pre-B-cells, germinal center B-cells, mitogen-activated T-cells, Ig-secreting plasma cells, monocytes, NK cells, bone marrow erythroid and myeloid progenitor cells, and brain cells
Intended use
Anti-CD38 antibody is useful for identifying plasma cells and tumors with plasmablastic differentiation when used with a panel of antibodies
