CD138, also known as Syndecan-1, is a membrane protein which is involved in regulating cell morphology and adhesion. CD138 is predominantly expressed on mature plasma cells and early pre B-cells. Various types of epithelial cells are CD138 positive, whereas mature mesenchymal and neural tissues are negativ
Intended use
CD138 is expressed in plasma cell malignancies. Anti-CD138 antibody is a useful tool for identifying plasma cells and plasma cell differentiation within hematolymphoid tissues when used with a panel of antibodies.
