Intended use

The antibody labels CK19 protein in normal and neoplastic cells. It is a useful tool for determining thyroid carcinoma of papillary type although it is positive in 50- 60% of follicular carcinoma when used with a panel of antibodies.

Assessment criteria
A moderate to strong, distinct cytoplasmic staining reaction of all surface epithelial cells in appendix
At least a weak to moderate staining reaction of the epithelial cells in the basal part of the crypts in appendix
No staining reaction in lymphocytes, endothelial cells and the vast majority of well-preserved intermediate and superficial squamous epithelial cells in tonsil
		* Basal squamous epithelial cells and reactive squamous epithelial cells will show a weak to strong cytoplasmic staining reaction
