CD5

CD5 is a transmembrane protein expressed on all mature T-cells and subsets of B-cells found in the follicular mantle zones, bone marrow, and peripheral blood.

Intended use

The antibody labels CD5 in both normal and neoplastic cells. It is useful for classifying and characterizing T-cell and B-cell neoplasms when used within a panel with other antibodies

Assessment criteria
A strong and distinct, predominantly membranous staining of virtually all T-cells in both the T-zones and within germinal centers in tonsil
At least weak to moderate but distinct membranous staining of dispersed B-cells in mantle zone of secondary follicles in tonsil
No staining of germinal center B-cells
